Alma Nurshaikhova

Sr. Digital Specialist, World Bank

Ms. Alma Nurshaikhova is a Senior Digital Specialist at the World Bank based in Abuja, Nigeria. Alma leads the World Bank’s digital development portfolio in Nigeria, which includes Nigeria Identity for Development Project, Building Resilient Digital Infrastructure for Development, and analytical work on digital economy and transformation.
Since joining the World Bank in 2014, Alma has worked on investment operations, budget support programs, and analytical tasks on GovTECH, public finance management, domestic revenue mobilization, intergovernmental fiscal relations, and governance in service delivery
in Europe and Central Asia, East Asia and Pacific, East and West Africa.
Before joining the World Bank in 2014, Alma worked in her home country Kazakhstan as Strategy Manager at the Sovereign Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna”, Director of Economic Analysis at the Center for Trade Policy Development, and Human Development Coordinator at the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan. Alma holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan, and a master’s degree in development studies from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. She also pursued a professional development opportunity in the area of Economic Development at Michigan State  University, funded by the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship.
